nerve pain and atrophy after microdisectomy

I have a client who has presented with nerve pain down both legs posteriorly after a microdisectomy for treatment of a prolapsed disc. Prior to surgery client had pain down the left leg and was almost incapable of using the left foot.
Upon palpation of the surgical site find the L5 quite displaced anteriorly, Right gluts/leg atrophied and sore, Left gluts/leg very tense.
Thoughts on treatment??

How long ago was the treatment, how old is the patient and what type of physical rehab did they do and for how long after or before the proceedure? Was this due to accident or injury?

Nerve regen can take up to a year - sometimes longer and sometimes not at all. Have you talked with their Dr. to find out if he is cleared for massage and what type?
