New Advertising - Creating your Ad

I'm trying to create my new ad for a local holistic publication... My old one wasn't generating much business...

Yes, I want to focus on the massage, but I also want to highlight the energy and crystal work too, because that's what really makes me unique in the area. I do personalized chakra alignments, using a kit of over 100 stones to choose from (obviously too much text for a business sized card)

I really want to intergrate my massage and crystals more into my practice. But I'm having a tough time coming up with the ad.

I keep putting this off, running the old ineffective ad over and over, cause this just drives me nuts. Of course if wishes were horses, I would have someone professionally design my ad!

Of course the deadline is just around the corner again... in 4 days as a matter of fact.

Ok, this is turning into a long rant, sorry about that... I'm about to :throwpc: but feeling a little calmer now.

How do you come up with your ads?

Are you just doing text or putting in graphics as well?

I think that if you want to pull in people interested in chakra alignments, energy work, and crystal healing you should just tell them in your ad that you are doing that. People who know what it is and are looking for that kind of work won't need an explanation. And people who see it and are curious will call. People who don't want that will not call and you won't be filling your book with clients you don't want.

So something like (but centered so it's appealing to look at)

I have my picture, and a small graphic of a crystal cluster I can use. Still debating on the massage gif, I think I want to leave it out, make it a little less cluttered.

I think my old ad had too much text, So I definately decided to go a little more simply, hopefully that will help. I got more response to the simple ad.

Specials haven't done much for me, so I think I'll leave it off.

Not having much room to work with can be a blessing, I think... it forces you to be really clear about what action you want the person to take and only go after that.

It also can more or less determine what that action should be: since there won't be enough room to provide all the info needed for someone to make a purchasing decision, the obvious goal is to get the ad reader to inquire for more information.

Easiest way to do that is to go to your website, where they have maximum convenience (check at 3am if they want), zero risk--they can always click away, they're not stuck on the phone with someone trying to sell them something--and you have virtually unlimited cheap information-providing space.

So focus your ad on getting people curious and interested in checking out your website.

Get your website focused on giving people all the information they need to call you for an appointment.

Concentrate on the benefits of the services that you offer. Highlight why the services that you want to focus on are something attractive to the consumer - something that they want to buy and from you.

Sometimes our modality speak does not translate well to the consumer.
