Not even a year old, a massage therapy clinic in New Hamburg has had to close its doors due to the coronavirus pandemic and its lingering effects.
Ben and Lisa Woods, Wellesley natives, opened up a second location of Elysis, a registered massage therapy and manual osteopathy clinic at 338 Waterloo St. on Oct 1. 2019. The other location is in Waterloo, and opened up in 2006.
"We are heartbroken that we have closed the clinic due to the pandemic shut downs," said Ben in an email to the Independent. "We were so new and vulnerable, that the short and long-term impacts of the closures were more than we could withstand."
“We have been eagerly looking for an opportunity to open a location close to home because we have recognized that this area is largely underserved when it comes to manual osteopathy,” said Ben, a graduate of the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, in October. Lisa is a graduate of the same program while the couple have also had education at the Canadian College of Osteopathy.
