New Ipod touch, have a newbie question or two...?

The Ipod was a gift and I know nothing about it...
I have a laptop.
I have internet at work, but not at home.

I understand I need ITunes to get the thing working... if I bring my laptop to work and download ITunes on it. Can I load/take off songs using my laptop from home where I don't have internet?

then... is it possible to load ITunes on my laptop AND work computer; or am I limited to just one computer for my Ipod touch?

1. you only need internet to buy songs and put them on the ipod, because you need internet connection to access the store.
2. go to the apple online store, and if your computers run on either windows of some kind or macintosh, it will download for free, but other systems like linux have no way of getting itunes.
3. you're in luck and got your ipod at the right time. they just came out with itunes 9, which has an incredible new feature called home sharing. you download itunes 9 onto both computers, click on home sharing, and sign on on the same itunes account [your email and password, all this will be informed when downloading itunes, and you will also put in a credit card # if you want to buy songs, or if you already have them on cd's that works too. but you'll probably want more songs, so i recommend the credit card thing], but i don't believe you can sync your ipod on both computers, but if you have songs in one loibrary that you want in the other, you turn on home sharing and you can duplicate them and put them in both libraries. i recommend only downloading itunes on your laptop, it's a lot easier. hope this helps.

Alright, go to work and download/install iTunes. Then use the iTunes store, or Amazon, or anything really to get songs and apps for the touch. Once the songs/apps are ON your iTunes you can bring the laptop home.

If you install iTunes on both your laptop and work computer; then instead of Syncing* your iPod to your laptop, you have to check "Manage Music/Videos/Apps manually." And that way you can drag and drop everything to your iPod.




*Syncing: If turned on, when you plug your iPod into your computer, iTunes will check to make sure ONLY the stuff that is on iTunes is on your computer.
Ex: You're synced and have 5 songs on your iTunes/iPod. You delete a song on your iTunes. Next time you plug in your iPod, the song you deleted will be deleted from the iPod too.
I recommend NOT syncing.
