New kitten being introduced to my older cat?

I got a new kitten today and she is obviusly very nervous, but she is now eating which is good, isn't it? She still prefers to hide under the bed, but I can understand that. Anyway, my old cat George hates dogs and ran away when we picked up a stray kitten a few years ago, but she was sick which might have triggered that. I held my new kitten and went near him, and he just sat there and looked at me rather than the kitten. He is a very strong cat and has put a dog to shame before, so understandably I am quite worried. Does anybody have a method in which I can slowly introduce my kitten to my cat? My kitten is a girl and my cat is a neuterd male. If you could, I would also appreciate one for my not exactly gentle and playful dog.
