New mamasan at Prosper City

I've been to Prosper City dozens of times. Usually there's a nice older white gentleman there who treats me well & is very polite. Sometimes his younger chinese gf is there & she's very nice too. Over the last month or two, they've hired a new older mamasan that is a real pain in the ass. She can barely speak English & when I go in & ask to see the girls, she asks for my money 1st & then says who do you want to see. Well, I want to see the girls before I make my choice. She just stands there & keeps asking the same question & is quite rude. Tonight I phoned to see who was working before heading out & she picked up the phone. I asked who was working there & she did it again. kept asking who I wanted to see. I kept asking her I wanted to know who was working there & she wouldn't budge. She then asked me where I was, which was a very odd question. This went back & forth for 3-4 minutes & she wouldn't tell me who was working there. I got fed up, hung up the phone & went else where. I like Prosper City, but this new mamasan has to go since I won't deal with her BS anymore. There are too many other AMPs around.

When I go to an AMP, I ask to see the girls instead of asking for names. Even if they tell you, I have a hard time remebering ALL the girls at ALL the AMPs.

But, I do it..in a very friendly, relaxed sort of way..and don't have a problem

If they say no to see the girls beforehand, I most always walk

I totally concur with JF,

If you're pleasant and ask politely " would I be able to see the girls please"
(the mamasan's really like it when you're respectful and appear unassuming), I have so far always been able to see the line up.

So speak softly and carry your "big stick" in your shorts.

But anyways, by the way DMV talks in his post....I'm pretty sure he is very polite to the mamasan.

With that being said, sometimes no matter how polite you are....if the mamasan English is horrible....you're not gonna go to far. If you can speak her language (Mandarin, Cantonese or whatever)....then you MIGHT have a chance of seeing the girls. B/C these girls are not local....they have different mantality....trying not to be racist here...by far not....but if you notice the people from Hong Kong....they have a "dog eat dog" attitude.....meaning, a lot more aggressive approach....therefore, the mamassan would be aggressive (then what we are a custom to) as possible, for you to come in, and after make you stay.....this is a typical business person from Hong Kong....walk down Chinatown in Vancouver....you will see a person on the street in front of their store, yelling and saying how great their produce are.....while at the same time, if you walk down Robson, do you see anyone yelling what great clothes they have ?!?.

In our culture, we would find this impolite, and rude....but in theirs, it's their way of making a living......the mamasan of Prosper, need to learn to take a step back, and learn our way of life.

OT, this happened to me once with Atlantis (problem been solved)....it was posted by others about the mamasan doing the same........the mamasan refused to let me see the other girls, and kept saying "I give good massage, want massage?".....after 3 minutes of this bull, I just left.

I am polite when I ask to see the girls. I've had no trouble at all with the older gent & his gf & I've been there probably 50 times. They're always nice & let me see the girls before I make up my mind. This new mamasan won't do that. A typical converation is something like this:

Can I see who's working?
You pay 1st.
I'd like to see who's working before I pay for the room.
Who do you want to see?
I don't know yet since I haven't seen who's working.
Who do you want to see?
I'd like to see the girls before I choose who I want to see. Can I please see who's working?
Who do you want to see? You pay 1st.
I don't want to pick who I want to see or pay before I see the line up. Can I please see who is available now?
Who you want to see?

It's like a bad Abbott & Costello skit. This new mamasan has got to go or learn to be more customer friendly. It's like going to a restuarant & the waiter making you pay 1st & not letting you see a menu.

Well, I am not as much at the store on Main the past while; sometimes at the Kingsway @ Nanaimo location. The mamasan idea was to give myself a little time.

DMV, I truly appreciate your observations and comments. A customer should always feel welcome and comfort entering my store; this is very important to me.

Whereas it is not unusal to ask for the room fee prior to seeing the girls, this typically applies to new folks and is meant to help separate out the "looky-loos" from customers. Of course, anyone not liking the line-up at the time and wanting to leave has the fee returned. For regular repeat clients like yourself, the mamasan should relent after your request, show you to a room and present the girls available.

I apologize for the inconveniences you have experienced and I certainly will have a conversation with the mamasan. I invite you or any other client to PM me with comments anytime.

I understand you want to deter the looky loos. However, she does this to me every time & never remembers me from before. That's not even the problem. The reason for my post was that now she's doing it on the phone. I phoned yesterday to see who was working to see if it was worth it for me to drive there. She did the same 'who want to see' routine over the phone. I'm sure as hell not going to drive all the way there if the mamasan won't even tell me who's working. Plus she kept asking me where I was phoning from, which is creepy.

To Prosper City,

With the mamasan having the Hong Kong attitude (or mantality)....there is no garantee that she would give DMV his money back after he looked at the girls and wanted to leave.

There is too many options, if you want our business....you will have to have a talk with the mamasan, and set up some guide lines...so that DMV, and other eforum.xxxs members feel welcome.......otherwise, we'll just go somewhere else.

DMV is not the only one who calls up to see who is working......I too, do the same thing, for the mamasan not to answer a simple question like that, is totally rude.

FYI, I've been to Prosper City once......a few months ago, saw Yo Yo. Found it to be just average.....Nothing special enough to go through crap like this....You should feel lucky to have a loyal customer like DMV.....IMHO, you should offer him some sort of room discount.

A discount is absolutely not neccessary. All I ask for is proper customer relations & someone who treats the clients well.

I must say that I am unfamiliar with any 'Hong Kong' mentality, and less so with any at all that can be said to apply to every individual.

That aside, I can absolutely guarantee that in my MP, a customer, having paid the room fee and not selecting a hostess for a session, will in every instance have the room fee returned to him.

The mamasan, who BTW is from mainland China, is a good person, is not a thief and is not intentionally rude. While striving to do her best, she plainly requires some guidance on customer relations - and, DMV, I have already today initiated the process with her. As for the phone, DMV, also at times when the mamasan is busy one of the hostesses might answer and their ability to respond can be quite limited - part of the challenges of running an AMP. Good mamasans are hard to find, so I would much rather invest time to educate her than to seek a replacement. I have confidence that the irritations you have encountered will quickly vanish.

I'm glad to see that someone has brought up a problem and that hopefully it is being addressed...that's certainly one reason this board is here. I was in Prosper about a month ago. I called the day before to ask which girls would be working the following afternoon around 2....I was told the entire selection (can't remember all the names but basically it was the full list of several who had been reviewed). Called again the following day about 1:30, and was given the same info....told the mamasan I'd be there in about 30 minutes. Showed up and asked to see the gals...."you pay first." Told her I'd never done that at any AMP's. She insisted, I paid. Then she asked me how I liked the gal sitting next to her at the counter. I said I'd like to see all the girls. She countered with "other girls busy." I said I could wait. Waited in the room 20 minutes, she comes in and tries to push the same gal on me. Told her I was looking for Angela. Finally, she saw I wasn't going to give in, and 20 minutes later, Angela finally appeared...the treatment did kind of put me off from coming back. I think once we've made it clear that we frequent AMP's or are eforum.xxx savy and obviously are there to be good clients, we ought to get the benefit of the doubt and be treated well.....the cutthroat business attitude stereotype may be somewhat valid, but then again, look at Simon over at the Joyce Micro....he treats everyone like a personal friend and goes way out of his way to ensure that business will return.
