A new massage studio opens its doors to customers for the first time Tuesday in Melrose.
Alicia Green, owner of Balanced Being Massage, operates out of a 400-square-foot massage studio upstairs at 786 Main St. The massage studio space has brought the widely travelled Green back to her hometown of Melrose.
“When we are balanced, it's all for our well-being,†Green said, explaining the ethos behind her studio. “It's a very personalized, one-on-one experience.â€
A former concierge at the Ritz Carlton in Boston and corporate travel and tourism advisor who has lived in California and Colorado, Green knows how to pamper many different body types and personalities. Combining this aspect of her history, Green is a longtime nationally and Massachusetts licensed masseuse who hopes her native roots and personality will help to build on her already esteemed client base.
Green's partnerships over the years as a personal masseuse have had her paired up with everyone from your average Joe to famous athletes and movie stars like former Bruins player Mark Savard (who called her work “great,†according to Green) and actor Mathew McConaughey.
Green and Balanced Being Massage do simple relaxation treatments, pre-natal massage, more aggressive deep-tissue massages, aromatherapy massage and specialty athletic massages. Hot stone massage is another treat Green offers as well as her specialty: Spa parties, an in-studio or at-home gathering for a days worth of specialty treatments, snacks and fine wines.
“People have always told me I have a really good energy and good nature,†said Green excitedly, as she prepared her studio for the grand opening, “I think it's important with massage to be open and honest with your clients […] it's all about trust.â€
While the massage studio may be just opening, Green already has some thoughts toward the future of her business saying, “expansion is always an option, (so) we will see.â€
