Mount Prospect village trustees Aug. 15 approved a conditional use permit for the operation of a massage therapy establishment.
Petitioner Splendid Day Spa Inc. will operate at 137 W. Prospect Ave. Albena Vassileva has been a licensed esthetician for 17 years and will occupy the 1,046 sq. ft. storefront.
In addition to therapeutic massage services, the spa will offer nails, waxing and facial services.
Vassileva stated she has plans to hire a team for the location including two nail technicians, a receptionist, and a massage therapist. During its highest peak, the maximum capacity would be eight people, including the four staff members.
Interior renovations have already been completed and a sign will be installed with no changes being made to the exterior.
Located downtown, there isn’t any off-street parking, but nearby spaces are located on Pine Street and Prospect Avenue.
According to floor plans, the spa will have three pedicure stations and two manicure stations next to the waiting room when customers first walk in. The two facial rooms down the corridor will also be used for massages.
Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. It will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. Massage appointments and services are expected to roll out when a massage therapist is hired.
