New to back pain

Hi, I am new to the forum.
Three weeks ago I started having this back pain that would not go away with ibuprofen or muscle relaxers pills.
I finallly went to an ER close to my office and they took xrays and came back telling me that there is a deviation on my spine and this is the cause of the pain. They showed me the x rays and they look pretty ugly.
The gave me presciptions for Tramadol for the pain and Cyclobenzaprine for the inflamation and recommended that I see my regular doctor.
I am still in pain, afraid to even walk. Does this mean that I have to continue like this for the rest of my life. I am 60 but still work. I sit down in front of a computer for 9 to 10 hours daily.
I am really deperate. Don't know how I can go on like this.

Hello Kirim and I'm so sorry for your desperation and your pain. If you take a look at the Back pain posts you will see that you are not alone and that there are many differentways you can approach your problem, as well as with pain-killers.
I'm a Pilates instructor, and would suggest that Pilates would help you to a) supportthe joints in your spine with increasedmuscle mass, adn b) quite possibly it ould help with a re-alignment. Many scoliosis sufferrers have found that their spinesimprove in shape with Pilates.
Also you could find someone who does [link=http://www.quantumtouch.com/]Quantum Touch[/link], as that can help with re-alignment too.
You said "deviation" - it occurs to me that you may have spondolysthesis rather than scoliosis? Or both? If so you must find out before you take exercise, and the instructor should be informed.
And finally - we didn't evolve to sit for 9 or 10 hours a day! You need to take regular "rests" from sitting - get up every 40 minutes or so, have a walk and a stretch.
