Newbie at RC transmitters. Can i use any 2.4Ghz transmitter for robotics?

Hi everyone! hey i'm a newbie at rc transmitters and

first: i wondered if i can just take any 2.4Ghz rc transmitter and use it for robotics? or is there some sort of regulation against that?

second: If i can just use any 2.4 Rc transmitter, how do i match them with a reciever?

third: what's a good 6 channel 2.4 transmitter i could use for a robot with a fair amount of peripherals?

You can't take just any transmitter, especially if you are going to have multiple peripherals. RC planes and heli's use up to 6 channels (99% of them). RC cars and trucks use 2-4 channels. So if you are just using a simple robotic arm, then you could use a 6 channel transmitter. If your robot is going to walk + arm function + ability to grab and release, you are going to need more channels to make these parts move independantly, and it will require many servos. More than a 6 channel.
2nd: To match the transmitter with the receiver you have to use the same compatible brand. Like if you were using an RC futaba receiver, you would have to use a futaba transmitter.
3rd: www.towerhobbies.com has hundreds of 2.4ghz radios and receivers. They sell them together, with servos like a package deal or you can build your own package. But if you are making a robot with multiple peripherals as you said, I think you are going to need more than 6 channels.
