Newbie beer/bar questions?

Hi, i have a few questions on bar etiquette. How much do you tip for service? I hear you tip $1, but does that number go for what ever amount of drinks you order at once? Like if you order 3 drinks (2 for a friend) you tip $1? Also what are those beer beakers called that you order and fill up cups? How much do they serve and do you ask for a number of cups when you order them? Also do you just ask for "a beer" on $1 beer nights or do you ask for a brand? If you're eating a meal and continually order beer, do you tip your waiter/waitress each time or just pay total tip at the end? Finally, what are those large beer glasses called and what is your favourite beer?

Tips - There is some debate on tipping for beers, but rule of thumb is $1 is the minimum to tip. However, you should treat it like any restaurant tip and go with 15% in my opinion or $1 whichever is greater. Bartenders like servers are paid a low wage and rely on tips.


"those beer beakers" - Since your next question asked about cups I think you mean pitchers of beer? Or do you mean the tubes or yards...sometimes they have football helmets as the base and a spicket? Anyway, that really depends on the bar and what they call it if you mean the tubes.

Beer - Brand name.

Meal - Tip at the end, 15% on the total bill.

Large Glasses - Depends on the large glass. Could be an imperial pint, could be a stein or any number of other styles of glassware.

Favorite beer - I don't know I haven't had them all yet, but I do know that I love imperial stouts and that my favorite breweries are American craft brewers in the Midwest...closely fallowed by the Belgians.
