whenever I add photos or make changes to my profile I would like to make sure it's not broadcast to my friends. is there a way to toggle that off? also want to hide when I am online so no one knows? last question what does it mean when people tag my photos? what are the advantages/disadvantages?

1. i don't think that you can hide anything off your profile from your friends so if you don't want them to see it don't post it.
2. I think you can go to account settings and there may be an option to hide that your online but i haven't found it.
3. when people tag you in a photo it means that when people want to look through your pictures that the picture that you got tagged with will be in your album.
4. the advantage and disadvantage of what?

If you don't want to show your friends the changes you made with your profile, go to Settings, Privacy Settings, Applications, And right near where its says overview click on Settings and change to your liking. To hide when your online, click on chat and click options, and click go offline. When your friends tag your photos it means that they're in it, or they like it. You can ask your friends about that. There are no advantages or disadvantages, it's simply tagging.

To hide yourself just click chat at the bottom, click options on the thing that comes up, and click "go offline" then don't open chat because it will automatically put you online.

when people tag you in a photo it means they saw you in a photo someone uploaded and put a "tag" on you. it means that now your name appears below the photo, and when you hover the mouse over your name, or you in the photo (generally your face), it will tell either who you are with a little tag, or where you are with a little gray box.

if someone tags your photo, it means that they saw someone in a photo you uploaded and tagged them. it notifies you because it was your photo and you can delete the tag.

the advantages are that people know where you are/who you are, and it enables people to browse through photos of one single person based on the photos that person was tagged in.

the disadvantages are that some people don't like when everyone knows who they are. you can delete tags of yourself regardless of who uploaded the picture.

On your homepage within the blue highlighted area near the top of the page click on settings. Then account. There you can set who sees what. You can set your privacy settings for about everything. Hope this helps.

1. just open the notification at the bottom right, you can setting it.
2. open the 'chat' near the notification, you can toggle it to 'go offline'
3. whenever there's comment or 'likes' from other friends to the photo, people tagged in this photo will get notification.

2- u can go offline - chat pop up -option - go offline
u also can make a list for ur friend to go offline in one & online in another
3- about the tag it will notify u that u have a picture up there

When you add photos if you dont want it to appear on the news feed when you have done it it comes up with post to news feed and profile click skip. When online click on the number of friends online and then on settings, choose go offline. When someone tags photos of you it just means that they have labelled you in a pic. The advantages are that you get a notification so that you can see the picture and the disadvantages are that if its bad it will come up on your profile and everyone will be able to see the pic.

I'm not sure there is a way you can make it so that it's not broadcasted to your friends, but i know there is a way that you can make your profile setting to only be allowed to be seen by your friends. You can't hide when you're online. It will automaticlly say to your friends so they can chat with you. I'm not sure about when people tag your photos. The advantages are it's safer than MySpace, more people have it, it's sometimes confusing, but, you'll get the hang of it.
