newbie wanting advice re treatment

During a treatment given today, whilst working on the kidney reflex a couple of toes began to go into spasm. I'm not sure why this would occur?!

Has anyone had a similar thing happen?

I've not been practising very long, qualified earlier this year, so I'm still trying to find my way.

Any comments would be very much appreciated.

Hi Mal,

I have had peoples feet start to cramp during treatment before and it is a bit worrying I am also new to this.

I've been watching this post for responses, hopefully someone in the know will do. Is the person who this happened to a sufferer of cramp?

Maybe whilst the person is uncomfortable do the sort of moves on them that you would do yourself if you had cramp , stretching out movements.

Hi there

Some people are just prone to cramp in their feet, and maybe a lack of relaxation contributed to this attack of cramp too? I would add, beware of going too deep when you are working the kidney reflex, because it's a sensitive point anyway and it's also right on top of the spring ligament (think that's what it's called) so double sensitivity there. If you've worked the reflex deeply the person's toes might have curled up as a response and then they went into spasm (wild guess here!).

My husband gets cramp during our yoga classes, and our teacher suggested that he should eat a banana before coming to class to see if it will help. She also advises cramp sufferers to pinch hard between their first and second toes to relieve it.

Check what the person's diet is like, and whether they are getting enough fluids too.
