Newbie wanting to invest in shares?

Just after a little more info about what i have to do to start investing... I just wanted to start small to get a feel of what its like and how it all works.
But just wondering where is the best place to go to start, im trying to stay about from having to pay someone though, is there a way to do it online with no or little fees?

Scott trade is fairly cheap for new investors, and it's probably the best deal you'll get with regards to transaction fees. I have an Etrade account, which has worked very well for me and costs me $9.99 per trade, but I believe it's around $12.99 for low volume trades.

Scottrade is like $7 a trade or something like that. Every single broker is going to have fees so you cant do it for free. Other sites will vary based on the amount of customer service they are giving you and other stuff. Most of the sites make you put in a minimum of $500 into your account to start it. That doesnt mean you have to invest it all but it means you have to have that amount available before they will open the account. Once you make the account then all you have to do is select the company you want to invest in and then find its ticker symbol to put into the site you are using.

The best place to begin is at your library. Read.

After you've read a few books, you'll discover that there is much toi know, and many ways to lose money. I like investing very mch. But I also like the odds to be in my favor. Becoming informed is your best way to begin.
