Newly introduced cat/kitten fighting or playing?

I currently own a year old cat and recently got an 8 week old kitten. I keep the kitten in another room and introduce them to each other 3-4 times a day. Every time they get together they participate in some sort of rough-housing of which I am unable to differentiate whether it is playing or fighting. This type of play continues the whole time until I feel like the play is very violent; so anywhere from 10min to an hour.

There is no hissing or any upset facial features however they have not had a single second of peace together and it is very rough play. Sometimes they kitten yells out in pain but when I break them up, he goes right back and jumps on the cat The interchange chasing each other and attacking each other first, so I am really confused. Are they getting along? Are they playing or fighting? What should i do if this is negative?

....Also when the cat eventually tires out and needs a break, the kitten comes and jumps on him. When this happens I feel the cat gets annoyed and attacks out of retaliation,

i have a 7 week old kitten and an 1 year old cat. at first they hated each other constantly hissing at each other, but now they wrestle and play around. i wouldnt be worried about it just let them play. just continue what your doing and stop them if they get a bit to rough.

It sounds like they're playing, just keep watching out for any aggressive behavior like hissing or growling. If its negative, distract both of them with either treats or toys. Eventually this should stop the aggressive behavior.
