nude massage

I've came across various threads and noticed that lsome therapists like me like to give "nudist style" massages, where the clients can be nude but like me you stay clothed.
I've recently had a situation and was wondering if anyone has had a similiar situation ever and if so how did you handle it.
I've a regular client, all very professional, however I do quite like him, he's seems a nice guy. While I'm certainly not normally up for stripping off in front of strangers, I know he would probably like me to be nude too for the massage and i this case i dont have any real objections. In fact I might even quite like it (lol !!).
If you had such a situation, do you think it would be too much of a shock. - have you ever had anything like this?

I think it would be quite a shock to the client if I stripped off, but then I am a woman approaching middle age

I think if a therapist of any description starts stripping off, they have (intentionally or unintentionally) crossed the line into a totally different area of work

Sounds to me based on your comment (In fact I might even like it!) a breach of your professional codes of conduct.

My advice would be not to cross the line after all he might seem a nice guy, but he could get the wrong idea.

I agree with Barbara, once the therapist strips off it's no longer a therapy.

Would you expect a doctor or nurse to get their kit off?

I can honestly say that I have never had this situation happen to me in my 22 year career as a massage therapist. I have seen lots of naked bodies and I haven't felt like taking anything off, because it's not what it's all about for me.

Surely you are not thinking of getting your kit off, because I believe you may get more than you bargained for.

Hi Paula,
I've seen my massage therapist for a few years I have my massage undraped but had either a g-string on or posing pouch.We are firm friends and over time she has worn less as we got to know each other.If you are happy to do so go for it but maybe do it gradually over time.

but what would the reason be though? If i went for smear test I wouldnt want to look at nurses bits! problem with my say breast the dr show his?her chest/breasts to me? that would be unprofessional.I think if one fancy the client you cant show it or even tell it as that would be crossing the line!
nice client but taking all your clothes off could scare and even disgust him?keep em on!

having a undraped massages , is about me , enjoy the massage with no underwear or towels over me ,
it not about the person given me the massage being nude .
before you offer that type massage . think long and hard about it ,
there no going back once done .
may be wear less clothers or just shorts and t shirt , to start with .
our would you think and act , if he said he as a freind who would like to have a natuist massage , would you be willing to give his freind one , male or femail .

I think these debates about nudity damage the image of massage. It's supposed to be a professional therapy with professional standards.

I'm not judging people who want a more sensual experience, but I really think it should be separate from mainstream massage therapy. We should be aiming for the highest professional standards so that massage gets the respect it deserves for its theraputic properties, not the subject of jokes and knowing winks.

I totally agree with the comments - it over steps the boundries of theraputic massage...

I would also say - you say you know he would like it, has he said as much? and would you offer this to all your clients or just him because you like him?

I can't see why anyone would wish the therapist to be naked unless it was for perverse delight, and similarly why a thereapist would wish to attend to someone naked, even a friend. You risk giving the profession a dodgy name.
As has been said, there are plenty of massage parlours where these services can be obtained.

The reasons for naturist massage are well documented on this forum. Genuine naturists are entitled to receive massage this way and for the avoidance of doubt genuine means in a non sexual context. Whereas I do agree that the motivation here may not be appropriate; some of the replies here underline the difficulties in this country with nudity=sex. This premis is entirely wrong. Everyone has the right to receive massage the way they prefer and providing there are people prepared to offer all the alternatives the market is served appropriately. I dont go on about conventional therapists short changing people by spending massage time adjusting and re-adjusting draping instead of massaging, all I ask is for views to be balanced. By the way I do plenty of conventional therapy too. For me its all about client choice.

Hi Switch,

I take on board what you are saying and presumably you are offering and advertising these services correctly - but the sound of the post wasn't put that way it was asking how people felt about offering massage in the nude. This has started as a massage and now the bounderies are changing.

I personally have had two experiences which made me unconfortable and the second one upset me. I advertise as a theraputic masseuse - I had a phone call asking if I did extras - I also worked in a spa at Heathrow - I had a client who insisted on not wearing clothes even though I insisted and it was company policy - he then started to groan - I decided to end the treatment and explained this. He jump off the bed nude before I could get out of the room.

I agree that people are entitled to the treatments and if you are happy to carry it out then great - not my cup of tea - I don't see my self as having a problem with nudity - what I have a problem with is massage being perceived as sexual or dirty and that I offer something more!

To me it didn't sound like a naturist massage being requested - it sounded more sexual and I would urge anyone to be careful male or female...

If a doctor got to know their client well and fancied them what would be their code of conduct. Could they ask them out? What I mean to say is that the therapist relationship should be kept seperate from the personal relationship. It sounds like you fancy your client, so maybe he shouldn't be your client any longer, perhaps you should refer him to another therapist.
If you both feel the same maybe something will come of it - presumably you wouldn't be charging him for the massage if he was no longer you're client. If you did you wouldn't be a therapist anyway - you would be the other sort of massause.

I do not believe that anyone is entitled to receive massage the way they prefer or want. IMHO they receive the massage in the way that the therapist wishes to offer it.

He didnt mean that peopel are entitled to receive their preferred massage by any massage therapist, he was acknowledging that there are therapists out there who serve the market well - supply and demand. If you want to stick to traditional draped massage - do it. If you feel comfortable without draping a client - do it. If you feel comfortable with the full naturist environment - do it. It does not make you any other kind of masseuse. It is about respect, boundaries and what the therapist feels comfortable with.

......I never said or even implied that the entitlement to receive a certain massage under certain conditions applied to ALL therapists. We all present our business services and clients make choices. What I object to is the ascertion that people who cater for genuine naturists are lowering the standards. There are good and bad therapists on both sides of this debate. I will reiterate that people are absolutely entitled to receive the massage they want in the way that they want - the market does and should provide these choices. Incidentally this is very much the attitude in continental Europe where many more people avail themselves of the vast array of therapies now available.

I don't have a problem with this - my concern was for the therapist who 'likes' her client and 'felt' he would like her to massage him whilst she was nude - this is a different situation completely
