Oakworks changed their face cradle!!

My table is 4 years old, an Oakworks Alliance. I bought a second table a couple months ago, an earthlite, and do not like the face cradle which came with it. Since the Oakworks and Earthlight face cradle holes are the same, I thought I would buy a new Oakworks face cradle for the earthlite table.

The new cradle came today. Oakworks changed the cushion! My old one is much larger than the new cushion. Clients were able to sink their face into the large opening. The new cushion also has seams on the top of the cushion. I am trying out the cushion today on some clients who have been coming in for a long time. I am not telling them the cushion is new. I want to see if they say anything.

Sometimes new and improved isnt.

It seems really odd that they would put seams on the top of the cushion! Ick! Will you be able to pad it a little to cover those? or to send it back? Ick.

Here is a picture of the two face cradles. You can easily see the size difference, but it is a bit difficult to see the seams they have on the smaller face cradle.

Is this the cushion you said your clients with dentures like better?

Hi Gratelakes. My face cushion has seams on the top, too. But I use a fleece face cradle cover, so the seams can't be felt by the client. Also the extra cushioning of the fleece cover makes the cushion much more comfortable. Something to consider adding (if you haven't already).

The cushion the denture wearing client prefers is the larger one, my old one. I believe it is because she can really squish her face into the center of it and nothing really touches her dentures. The smaller face cradle doesnt allow for clients to push their face into the center as much. I have to adjust the new cushion differently, I keep it a little lower than the old style cushion.

As for face cradle covers, I use flat fleece covers which I cut myself. Between clients I spray and wipe the cushion. The seams on top havent been much of a problem since I have been using it exclusivly in the last couple of weeks. I really liked the old style face cushion. I just dont know why they changed a good thing. I have been too lazy to email or call and ask.
