Odd spaces MT's might work out of

So as the years have progressed and I have learned many lessons, it has become clear to me that I want to work in my own space.

That being said, I don't want to spend lots of money on a full office space so still would prefer to just use a room in an existing office.

I don't want to be in another massage office.... that is my current situation.

I am brain storming other businesses I can search out for space. There is no desire to work out of a hair or nail salon btw. Can't stand the smells.

Any suggestions?

Just before I finally found my own office space, I worked for a little over 6 months out of a small room in a local bookstore.

Another type of place you may find a room to rent is in a health food or herb supply store.

i worked out of a Unity Church once. my psychologist works out of my office, so that could easily be reversed (but there's a lot to consider with that situation).

A bowling alley would be pretty odd. A greenhouse or plant nursery, too, would be a bit different. A video rental store or perhaps a car dealer, those are unique situations for bodyworkers to find space. A funeral home would be incredibly odd.

Around here there are a lot of "Perk N Tan" type places - coffee and tanning booths/beds - that also have MT's renting a room. It's pretty quiet, but you need to like the smell of coffee. I do, so it was a lovely experience.

Are few-employees businesses exempt from the ADA laws? I've wondered about a few businesses that have stairs with no other access.

How high up is the treehouse? About how many stairs?

That is one of those places I'd love to see! But a "nice to visit, don't want to live there" thing for me, probably.

Are few-employees businesses exempt from the ADA laws? I've wondered about a few businesses that have stairs with no other access.

Yes, I'm not exactly sure what the limit is as far as number of employees but most small businesses are exempt. I know this because our building does have a step in it and our hallway is too narrow for most wheelchairs.

While we can accomodate some handicap clients, most we have to refer to other therapists.
