Hi All,

I am in the process of reviewing my Polices and would love to get some feedback. Just want to make sure I have everything covered.

Following is a list of what I have covered so far. PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE IN SHORTHAND of sorts and not ACTUALLY how they read.

Lateness - full amt of $ is due and appt ends at original time

Cancellations/No Shows - pmt in full req'd. 24 hours notice req'd.

No Smoking or Alcohol on premises

Pmt due at time of service - cash, check Visa/MC

Appts are secured with a Credit Card

Draping is required in our office

No Breast massage is offered

Client can cancel session at any time they feel uncomfortable

Services are by appt only

No unattended children or pets allowed

Minors MUST be accompanied by parent or guardian

I reserve the right to refuse service at my discretion

Returned check fee

massage is not substitute for medical treatment

Not responsible for lost valuables

Any illicit or sexual remarks or actions made by client will not be tollerated and session will end with paymt in full

Client is responsible for keeping therapist updated as to their health-related issues/changes and holds therapist harmless of liability due to non-disclosure.

It seems my policy page is unusual, but I have listed client benefits in my policies - referral rewards program, maintenance program (reduced fees for pre-scheduling), and package deals. I also list my policy for client information protection. I ALSO list my policy for late cancellations, no shows, etc., but they don't only see how I protect myself, this way, but also how I protect and work to benefit them. Does that make sense?

I have been having a weird time recently with someone trying to book a massage for someone else. The boyfriend will call and try to schedule a massage for the girlfriend...no way, my newest policy is the person who is receiving the massage must be the one to make the appointment.

Just curious. Why do you object to a boyfriend scheduling a massage for a girlfriend, or vice versa? I've had people do this, and it has always worked out fine. If you're uncomfortable, though, maybe you could suggest they buy a gift certificate instead? That way, you aren't turning away business, and the gift recipient can call you to schedule their massage directly (fulfilling your policy that the person receiving the massage must be the one to make the appointment).

Because I have had no shows because the person getting the massage didnt make the appt. and didnt remember that they had one. Thats why I have the policy, hopefully it wont happen to you!

I'm curious, too! I have a lot of clients who book for others. Usually it is a wife booking for her husband and/or daughter, but today I had a client call and book me for an extra hour at her house on Monday for a friend of hers I've never met. In our school clinic, clients would frequently schedule appointments for someone else, too. I've never given it a thought at all. Have I been getting lucky, somehow, with nothing going wrong?

if they are advanced appointments, you can always do a re-confirm call to the client directly.
the other problem is that alot of these calls are for "surprise" massages~ where the actual client doesn't know about the appt. and will find out when we arrive for the call. i don't like these. i try to ask the party if it's a surprise and deal with it. they're told that if the client refuses service, a GC must be purchased on the spot.
