okay now what?

I'm a chair massage practitioner and I would like to start doing corporate massage. So far I have a business card and insurance. I have been having a really hard time getting myself out there, I just have this block about approaching people. I finally, (and it took months!) got up the nerve to call the health and wellness coordinator of a large company in my town to ask if they would be interested in having massage in the workplace. Of course she asked me to send her some information via email and now I am Panicking! I don't know what kind of info to send! Should I just send her the costs and what I would need or should I send info about myself? HELP, I am so new at this I just don't know what to do now.

I hope while you are awaiting a response here, you are compiling information or at least brainstorming what you could send her. The more formal, professional, yet concise you make it, usually the more likely you are to get an interview. Simply sending a pricelist is not enough; you have to make a proposal.

First write her a quick email along the lines of, "Thank you for your interest, I will get back to you by 5pm tomorrow with a proposal." Do not delay in sending some type of response.

The proposal should have when you are available to provide the service, how often you will provide it, how much you charge, how the massage will be paid, description of how it will benefit both the employer and employees.

Congratulations on stepping outside of your comfort zone! I promise that it will get easier with every person that you approach.

If your belong to AMTA or ABMP, check out their sites for more information on contracts or benefits of chair massage information. If you can site studies on the benefits of it, the employer is more likely to justify the cost.
