okay to massage pregnant wife?

I want to give my wife a massage. She's 4 months pregnant. Not planning any intense deep tissue thing but have read online how massages can induce labor, or how certain oils might be harmful. Seems way too complicated. Any guidelines or a place to find info??

Sure wish you were my hubby!! I'm so JEALOUS I have never heard of massages inducing labor. Maybe much further on, but not right now. Especially when many women do go to massage therapy during pregnancy to help the aches and pains. A nice back or foot rub will help her out a lot. And you don't need to really use an oil, you could try one of the vitamin E lotions instead. And if you apply the lotion to her entire body, it will help reduce stretch marks too. If you wanted to use an oil, try baby oil. Many women also rub that on to reduce stretch marks so it would be safe to use for a massage.

I think that would be your best bet. Find something that women use during pregnancy to reduce stretch marks, and massage her with that. And if you aren't doing an intense massage, then it would be perfectly safe! Your wife is a lucky woman

dont use aromatherapy oils and massage away, god i wish i had the luxury of having a partner willing to do that - but alas it wasnt to be.
if your wife goes over due then try the oils that your reseach suggests and it might help things along a bit but for now just use a nice gentle massage with oil and no scents ok.

urrghhh so jealous! my partner is sooo rubbish at massage! didnt offer and then i couldnt go to a masseuse because of thrombosis!
