OMFG billboard ignites controversy

The controversial billboard is located just west of Dundas St. W. on the north side of Bloor St. W. near the entrance to the Bishop Marrocco-Thomas Merton Catholic Secondary School. (DAVE ABEL/Toronto Sun)

Depicts a smiling photograph of the performer with the words: “Shirt On: OMG, Shirt Off: OMFG.” OMFG stands for “Oh My F---ing God.”

The billboard — sponsored by Virgin Radio 99.9 — was posted last week.
Many who have seen the billboard are questioning the acceptability of the use of the acronym.

Everyone I know uses the acronym OMG, and most ALSO use OMFG... (I don't think I've ever heard my Mom use it...)

Gees, they even use the "f" word on the Oscars now! :roll:

What are the rules?

Is it ok to put "F&*%ing" on a billboard?...or is it just the actual word "fuck". In the case of OMFG I would think that the F falls into the same category of the previous in "representing" the word but not actually displaying it. Where's the line? Does anything that could be construed to represent a bad word have to come down?

and don't even get me started on the chain FCUK or the word frig or fricken.....we ALL know what it means yet it is allowed and embraced by many.

I think people just have way too much time on their hands....

For that matter, OMFG could stand for Oh My Fricken Gosh.....and if the advertisers were smart, theyd say that is what it means....if anyone says differently they can point out that it is the complainer who is reading something into the ad....(aka offensive mind).

it could also stand for On My Father's Grave......and about 1,000 other interpretations......and the couple quoted as "not being prudes"? They're prudes......

Oh, and I suppose they don't find pictures of women in their underwear in bus shelters offensive in any way? (and I might add, pretty fricken revealing underwear).......

I bet these people are the same type who freaked over janet jackson's bare tit during the superbowl and wanted to castrate Imus for using the term "nappy headed ho's"......
