I was wondering what people thought about back ops. I have suffered from back pain for years (I am a 33 year old male) and I have had various MRI scans. I had gone through about 3 years of limited manageable pain. Last year I had a relapse and since then I have not been able to shift the pain. I finally lost patience with extensive physio and went privately to see a consultant. After another MRI he told me that the l4/l5 prolapse was still there and an operation was my only option. He did not discuss injections and when i asked him about physio, lifetsyle changes (no more running or weights) he scoffed and said an op was the only way forward. He also has me on 600mg of pragabalin which i am desperate to get off. I really do not want an op and wondered if anyone has any ideas of how to get out of the cycle of drugs and pain without an op? At the moment life is manageable but there has to be a better way! Any advice would be welcome.
