Our clinic had an Open House on Saturday the 5th with a pretty good turnout -- we estimated 120-150 people showed up. Here's what seemed to work:
-We sent out press releases to all of the local newspapers.
-One of the practitioners had a friend write an article on her and submit it as a "human interest" piece for the town newspaper.
-We mailed 350 postcard invitations to our client databases and emailed over 500 invitations to our e-databases.
Refreshments consisted of hummus and pita bread, fruit and cheese platters, apple cider and hot tea, and assorted cookies and crackers. I made a gift basket for the raffle and instead of taking just name and phone numbers we developed a postcard-sized form with lines for name, address, email, phone and which modality they were most interested in. This was then dropped into the fish bowl and we had a drawing at the end of the day. We will be adding their contact info to our database for future announcements and news.
On several occassions the place was standing room only and we were so glad we had setup two tables of info and placed them at opposite ends of the room. We probably had a forest of papers leave the building that day but we've been receiving calls since Monday morning so I think it's a good thing.
I hope this helps others with their own plans for an Open House. We are hoping to have a Customer Appreciation Day when things are slow after the Holidays. The two RNs on staff (the Acupuncturist and Hypnotherapist), will take blood pressure and teach participants how to chart their blood pressure for their doctor's use. We will also do demos and mini workshops on the various modalities we offer. The Open House was just to break the ice and let the public meet everyone and ask questions (which they did a lot of the latter!).
