OROVILLE — The Oroville City Council will discuss a second reading regarding the regulation of massage establishments and independent massage providers. These regulations are intended to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of clients, the public and individuals while respecting legitimate massage businesses and obeying the Massage Therapy Act of 2008.
The regulation of massage therapy professionals transitioned from local governments to a statewide system in 2008. According to.Senate.ca.gov, SB 731 was a bill that aimed to create a reliable certification system for professionals while eliminating discriminatory business regulations on healing arts professionals.
The Butte Local Agency Formation Commission is requesting to use the Oroville council chambers for monthly meetings, which would occur on the first Thursday of each month.
The Council will hear a second reading regarding Bingo games that would alter the Oroville municipal code to be consistent with state regulations. If passed, the proceeds allowed for operating costs per month would increase from $1,000 to $2,000.
There will be yet another second reading regarding the adoption of military equipment use policy by the Oroville Police Department.
The council will reconsider the action taken at the April 19, 2022, Oroville city council meeting to reject all bids and may award a contract for tree pruning services within the city’s public right of way to P31 Enterprises, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $1595 or $120,000 annually.
