Pain in hands and wrists

Over the years, I have experienced pain in my hand/hands and sometimes up to the wrists when working on clients.  I am going to assume that it is energy, perhaps blocked, traveling from the clients' source of discomfort and up through my hands.  Is this something I should be concerned with?  At times, it is so painful I have to remove my hands from the client.Secondly, I have experienced color, words, phrases, songs etc while working and would like to explore these experiences.  What training, books, etc would one recommend for this journey?  Thank you

It is not unusual to experience discomfort for a while when doing healing with others.  I can't honestly say that I know the exact reason. It is always a good idea to silently say an affirmation before doing healing such as:"I do not wish to accept any energy that is not my own"  This prevents you from getting energy that might be unhealthy.    If you stay with the spot that gives resistance to energy from you, it will usually yield and allow the flow of good Reiki energy. It just takes a little more time.  As for visions of color etc., these are also common in working with Reiki.  I seldom pursue the meanings of these visions, but instead prefer to enjoy the presence of them.  You are getting into shamanism and guides.  This will take you places that you must be prepared to go.  Walter Lubeck and Diane Stein do some writing on these subjects.  You might also try the archives of the International Center for Reiki Training.I have gone where you are headed.  Gods Blessings on your journey.Medicineman

Pain in hands and wrists

I definitely agree with Medicineman.I've felt this before as well, more so when I wasn't shielding myself properly. Though, I've also felt it when I was. I was told by a few of my instructors that this is just how some people sense energy. There is extreme pressure in the hands. I often sense it with my hands or the pressure build up is in my head... so I make sure to breathe and direct the energy flowing through my to not only flow out from the heart chakra.. but push it out through my hands and down from building up in my head. When this fails, I'll ask my spirit guides to turn the sensitivity to the energy down a bit and make sure all of the energy I'm feeling is my own. That always works.
