Has anyone here has studied pain science?

There is an enormous body of research on why/how we feel pain, with practical info on providing relief. I am looking for some good starter texts to become better acquainted with it. If you can recommend any, please give me your recommendations.

I've heard a lot of good things about the book- Expain Pain by David Butler. Haven't read it yet, but it's next on my book purchase list.
