Passport required?

Or just get a passport. I just find since I travel a good deal I need one, but it may be worthwhile having one if your not clearly an Amercian Citizen such as an immigrant.

most of the time you won't be checked...but after sept. 11...the U.S. got more concerned to who it lets back in the country...if you don't have a passort, you will need your driver's license PLUS one of the following:

1) a USA student or work visa
2) US issued green card (meaning you are becoming a citizen ie. legal alien)
3) certified copy of birth certificate or original
4) citizenship or naturalization certificate

Remember these are US rules not Mexico's...it sure would suck if they won't let you back in the country and you have to be at work at 8 am the next day!!!

As a fairly well traveled person I would say get the passport anyway. Two reasons on this. First its a-lot more legit than a State ID as a Federal document that takes work to get. Second if you are not an Amercan looking man it does help get back in, better than a green card and other documents. And they are good for several years. I have always had one once I turned eighteen as an extra ID.

Until 2006 and even most likely for a good six months after that your DL would work. I 've always pass with my DL and nothing else since, I'am from So Cal.

The passport thing you mentioned is not supposed to go into effect for a while. (like 2006 or later i believe). and a passport is only about $67 to renew.

Hey guys,

I haven't been to TJ for awhile. It's been 8 months since I made a TJ run. I'm planning on going down there pretty soon but I saw something on the news a month ago about US passport being required for border crossing back into the US. Is this true? Can someone who's been down there recently verfiy this? I would hate to go down there without a passport and get stuck in TJ with all those pussies. My passport has long been expired and I don't really travel so the money I can save on the passport is money I can spend on other things! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
