Just saw this ad and was shocked to see that she charges extra for showers.

I think if it's available it should be free.

I totally agree with you JelloG. I also believe when waitresses ask you if you want cheese or gravy it should also be free. I make it a habit when they offer me more water, ketchup, napkin; I ask if it's an extra cost?

Maybe with a bit of encouragement, she might want to shower, together . Quite some time ago, I remember an independent masseuse asking for $5 more for the use of the shower. So, I offered her $25 for showering together on my 2nd visit and it led to some happy times.

I think it's because her price is lower than average market rates and needs to pay for the extra water (shower/laundry/detergent) and electricity (laundry and bathroom use) you use. So nickel and diming seems like the way to compensate.
Normally, a place charges $75 to $80 per hr and not all places offers shower so their profit margins are higher.
She is taking some practices from the airline industry by giving us "Basic Economy" pricing, then charging for "extras - not the happy kind, just stuff we are used to receiving for free with other providers". All we paid her for the basic economy fee she charges is the use of massage table and massage energy she uses on us. Ancillary fees makes up for other expenses.
Where as with other providers charging us between $75 to $80 and GST(Economy Pricing), with some charging $5 extra for electronic payments and receipts and includes shower use privileges.
So paying more upfront but have some basic amenities included a better deal, or pay a lower massage fee, then tack on ancillary fees to the basic economy unbundling price for massage service?

Take your pick.
Air Canada (Edmonton to Vancouver) or Flair Airlines (Edmonton to Vancouver area {Abbotsford} one hour away from Vancouver but no regular size carry on bags, just small personal item bag.)

My guess is that she has always wanted to be a car salesperson. I'm surprised she does not charge $5 for lying down on the table ($7 if you want clean sheets), $5 for oil ($6 for lotion)...

With all due respect, I think we're reading too much into this. In fairness, more often than not, a shower after is not a given assumption in a home environment, or before for that matter. I always shower before heading to an appointment. And, it's got to be cleaned after, and supplies provided. She a student as well, so cut her some slack

Not to mention the soap, shampoo and cleaning products for the bath/shower. So guys if you are heading over to use the shower to clean up after a long day, before your fun with all the goods provided, cough up the $5 and have some good clean fun

I see nothing wrong with it. When I go to places with showers I enjoy warming up before in one and washing the oil off after, CO charges more than some but I still like an in room shower and the privacy it provides,
