A Brookfield personal trainer climbed on top of his client during a massage, rubbed her breasts and penetrated her with his fingers, a criminal complaint filed Tuesday says.
Joseph Richmond, a personal trainer at G-Form Fitness on the 19700 block of West Bluemound Road, faces more than 10 years in prison and $35,000 in fines if convicted of the felony and misdemeanor charges against him.
According to the charging document, the alleged victim booked personal training sessions with Richmond on the recommendation of a friend. After the first session, Richmond brushed his hands against the woman's breasts and touched her buttocks inappropriately, the complaint said.
Despite the incident, the woman went back for two more sessions, on June 8 and June 13. Richmond sent text messages to the woman after the second session, telling her that he thought she was "cute" and requesting a dinner date, the complaint said.
A third physical therapy session went smoothly, the woman told authorities, according to the complaint. Afterward, Richmond asked the woman if she would like another massage session and reiterated that he would be professional.
She agreed, but Richmond was anything but professional, according to the complaint detailed by Waukesha County Assistant District Attorney Michael Thurston.
While she way lying on a massage table, Richmond climbed on top of the woman and straddled her body. He pulled up the woman's tank top, rubbed her breasts and inserted his fingers into the woman's vagina, the complaint said.
He allegedly apologized in a string of text messages afterward.
"It was a huge mistake on my part," he said, according to the complaint. "I feel guilty on what I did to you. I'm really sorry! I will delete your cellphone number from my phone. You have every right to be upset [and] call me names."
The woman asked why Richmond would think it appropriate to touch a woman in such a manner, indicating that she was "numb with being scared."
"I didn't pay you and trust you to touch me in inappropriate ways," she said.
"It's not appropriate," Richmond allegedly replied. "I did wrong. I feel guilty. I know what I did."
Richmond was charged with one count of third-degree sexual assault and one count of fourth-degree sexual assault.
