Phi Phi Islands

As I mentioned in previous posts, headed to LOS in November for my birthday and scuba diving. Have been researching the diving on the islands (Phi Phi) but have not seen much on the nightlife there. I know there are bars -- but is it worked by either FL's or BG's? Not expecting Patong out there but wondering if there was some type of that kind of action out there. Was thinking of staying there about a week. Also thinking of Koh Samui and had better luck finding out some relevent info for that location (1 week each in Phuket, Phi Phi and Koh Samui).

phi phi is mostly devoid of bg's as is mostly a dive/backpacker sort of scene.
you could always take 1 from patong with you!

you can do day trips to Phi Phi from Phuket (leaving from Chalong pier...takes about 2hrs to get to phiphi) and do the best dives around the area that way...also Hin Muang + Hin Daeng in Phangna Bay are good divesites but a decent boat trip away from Phi Phi....these can be done as part of a live aboard dive trip outta phuket

there's not really any diving advaneforum.xxxe in staying on Phi Phi but it's worth it for a night or two to get a feel for the place...it has a nice vibe

if you can't go without company for a night or two bring a take away from patong....Krabi is also well worth a visit

I'd love to go to Phi Phi... but I think I need to see a shrink... I love the sea (having grown up near the sea in NZ) ..but since the 2004 Tsunami... I find it hard to even stand on the sand let alone go out or into the water... I wonder if anyone else has this problem? I only feel like this in Phuket... but then I used to have nightmares about tidal waves as a kid which may explain a lot... :

i spent 4 nights on phi phi just before christmas 2008,had a great time,although felt a little lonely to start with as i was there alone and there is no bar scene,but i soon adjusted and began to enjoy it for what it was,a beautiful island and a nice place to chill out and get away from it all,good to chill on the beach and swim in the sea.

i literally felt a million miles away from my life back in the uk.

theres plenty girls on phuket and ko samui..although those islands have a completely different feel to phi phi (its a one in a million place)
