I am a mobile therapist doing reflexology, and i was wondering how to handle funny calls. i have had a couple lately where each time they have been indian men, i can not understand what they say, and they ask me how am i doing and what am i doing? they don't ask for a treament, just strange so in the end i hung up, so then i am worried if it is bad for business hanging up on them but when they ring back my husband anserwed and they said i only want to speek to women, and a load of srange stuff in the end my huband hung up, how do you handle these kind of calls with out giving a bad reputation?

I would find a good disreputable massage parlour local to you and when they call give them the number to ring that way you are not building a bad reputation but putting clients first by referring them to the sort of services they may be looking for.

also look at your own advertising and see what sort of message you are giving out and could this be misinterpreted.

I TOTALLY understand where you're coming from. The way I handle this - and I'm not missing out on any business this way - is to let all calls from numbers I don't recognise go to my voicemail on both my mobile and landline. As a mobile therapist, genuine callers will assume you're out busy massaging and will be more than happy to leave a message.

I've also developed a 6th sense regarding men who phone from witheld numbers and are vague and want same day/evening appts. 99.9% of the time they're not genuine. I don't even bother calling back.

Genuine callers will always want to make a booking in advance and will nearly always say what they're after ie. I'm running a marathon on the weekend and would like a pre-event massage or I'd like a back neck and shoulders massage etc.

Don't worry about your reputation - these callers aren't worried about you are they? I can assure you that you'll save yourself aggrevation, time and money by letting clients leave a message.

Yes, you will find even if you have advertised for a while some of these calls come along! I too tend not to answer withheld numbers as feel if they are really interested they can leave a message.

I had a phonecall last week from someone asking if I could help with his sexual problems, don't think I can say much more than this!!
