Phuket 1st timer.. solo...

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong section but here goes.

I am going to be arriving in Phuket on Sunday (solo), and whilst awaiting for the rest of my group of mates to arrive (wed) I wonder if the best bet is for me to wonder down to MTB?

I am not really up for getting harassed (its my 1st time in Thailand), but know thats a given in phuket? and just want to relax and have a few beers, have some fun have a boozey dance etc..

As ill be alone, anyone recommend anywhere to go? Or anyone want to meet up for a beer?!

Welcome to the board = WTB.

You will get harassed on your way to MTB but once there you will be OK, then you will actually want to be harassed, at least a little bit anyway.

Good luck actually finding MTB, maybe look it up first as even veterans get lost and confused as all the bars look similar.

people... i am really worried.. just looked up the forcast for the next 10 days.. rain and thunder.. does this mean the 1st time i come to phu its going to be all overcast and not the clear water etc?

but!!!! its a done deal, I will be at MTB on this coming sunday night!.. is it unusual to see a bloke in MTB alone? or will i quickly be adopted by a couple of ppl?

Not unusual... if you don't get to talking with some of the BM's, there are plenty of girls that will be more then happy to keep you entertained!

When you get there go and introduce yourself to Nicke.

You have absolutely nothing to be worried about! (well... almost absolutely nothing!) Patong and in particular, Bangla Road, is very good at looking after single gentlemen.

Take a walk down Bangla, find Soi Eric, run the gauntlet about halfway up the Soi on your right you'll find Mai Thai Bar.

If you make it that far... sit down, order a beer, tell the girls you are "from internet" and they will look after you.

Oh yeah, buy them a drink too!

I'd wait til after 10 before hitting MTB as it can be pretty quiet before then. There is absolutely no reason why you should feel uncomfortable walking around Bangla and exploring the other Sois too. You will get hassled, by girls, LBs, go-go touts, tuk tuks, tailors, lizard photo guys etc. just say no shake your head and walk on, no problems.

Just don't wear light coloured shorts with no underpants :great:

If i was you i first hit a few bars on Bangla and do a little people watching..
try the Shipwreck or Blue Lotus(they are opposite where the ladyboys dance)
will be great to get the feel of the place before you head down to the MTB...its not easy to reach as there are lots of pretty ladies trying to way lay
you on the way...but im sure you will manage....dont worry about the weather..its still hot.....have a great trip

hehe thats the bit i always look forward to, i never forget my 1st time walking down a soi, it was only small and girls appeared from nowhere, "mate said this is dead you wait" next night bangla road and what a shock that was,i felt like walking up and down all night lol

Dont worry about the weather ruining your trip...I went to Patong just a month ago and can assure you there are plenty of benefits of travelling alone....even if it had rained cats and dogs all trip I still would have had the best time of my life... the mall is nice, there are movies, and best of all you can go nowhere in Patong without seeing the most beautiful women everywhere... dont sweat it ...You Are Going To Have a Great Time...

I am actually going to phuket for training at TigerMuaythai, but have 3 days of rest before and after, and just hoping I can get some sun and clear blue waters everyone talks about! hahah
