Phuket or Bangkok? Nightlife for a few nights.

Firstly, I'm trying not to get flamed. I realise that this forum is named "Phuket Info" but I believe that there are some well experienced expats on the forum that may have been to other places.
Let me give you the story,
I've spent 2 months in Phuket, patong before and I did enjoy it. I have been to bangkok, phuket (twice), chiang mai and koh lanta.
I'm by no means experienced or anything, I'm not claiming to be. I'm 19 y/o and Australian.
I enjoyed partying and everything in patong, but the prior experience to thailand was when I was "too young" or maybe just too innocent to the world when I went to bangkok, chiang mai, koh lanta etc.
I don't really know what the bangkok nightlife is like and how it compares to patong or even phuket in general, I spent a few days going down to kata, karon, rawai and all around the island and even phuket town which was a pretty good experience. It was nice to change it up.
I am taking my brother who's just turned 18 and I'm going to show him the ropes of thailand for approximately 1 week. That means partying, ladies, drinking until you can't see, that kinda thing.
But would it be worth dipping into bangkok and trying that out or going to the tried and true Phuket? I tossed up pattaya, but I have heard that other then ladies and drinking there isn't that much else if you did decide to do something else (and I don't mean to step on anyones toes saying that, just what I've read from people and I've not actually been there).

So what do you think? I loved Patong and the closeness of bangla and then the experience of going around to the other areas, where they are sure as hell working a little harder to get you to stay (the ladies atleast).

BKK has loads of great nightclubs + sites to enjoy for several days if you want to include it in your itinerary....Phuket of course is great because it has great beaches as well as that party atmosphere that can't be beat

If flying into bkk id recomend maybe just spend the first night there. There are plenty of places to go and have fun. Iv done bkk twice now and on my next trip in april im going straight to patong. I prefer patong, i think the atmosphere is alot better plus you have the beach!

Most of the better places in BKK will check ID though, if you can get around this anyway i'm not sure.

When I was there last year we had a 19 year old girl with us, she went to MBK and got a fake student ID card printed up for cheap as chips, but she did design the template, just got a photo shop to print it.

I'd say you'd be better off in the bars in Phuket as the only places that really ask for ID would be Hollywood/Seduction etc.

Depends what you are after really in my opinion. If you want the best Go Go bars and clubs in Thailand then Bangkok in my view is the best by a distance. However, Patong is fantastic fun and alot more laidback than Bangkok. It also has much more of a party atmosphere. The quality of the girls is similar to Pattaya but a big step down from Bangkok. Both places are great though. If i was 19 I think on balance I'd much prefer to hang out in Phuket.

Agree for the most part. If you like the urban scene, BKK is the place to be. If you are more comfortable in small beach towns, then Phuket is the place for you.

Have you looked into Chaweng , Koh Samui - you have the beaches , a younger nightlife ( green mango, reggae bar etc ) and the p4p if required - could do a week in patong then fly with BKK Airways to Samui for a second week

I don't mind BKK and usually spend one night and an arvo there (visiting the Go Gos and getting a massage at either Mongos or Snow Whites) before heading off to Pattaya, however in my experience (which I acknowledge differs to most BMs here) the girls are hotter in Phuket & Pattaya.
