you can easily get chinese girls, but not in bars.
you can catch them on the office next door, or on the subway or starbucks, etc.
Find a silly excuse just to break the ice and then follow the stream. At the end of the chat you directly ask for the phone number and they will probably give it to you.

Now in Shanghai, is easy to spot a foreign girl than a shanghainese girl...foreign girls are desperate due a hard competition from locals!

Ok I know this post is a little out of place but I really wanted to get some advise on picking up a local girl. I will be in Shanghai for 6 months and during this time would love to dabble in something that doesnt come with a bill at the end of it.

I am very niave so please flame if this sounds dumb but is there any clubs/bars/places to go out where you have had a good experience chatting up Chinese girls, not needing to end up in bed, but perhaps with a phone number and/or date.

My friend did a 3 month placement in Shanghai and said all the places he went out to were full of foreigners. His reasoning for this is because local girls cant afford to go out to the up market places but I doubt this is the case.

Any advice on this line of approach would be appreciated.
