Picture on cards/brochures

I read somewhere on here that people put their pictures in the yellow pages for massage therapy. Would it be acceptable to put a picture on cards/brochures? It seems like it would add a personal touch, but I have yet to see a massage therapist with a picture on their card. What do you think would be the pros/cons of this? Do you think it would make people more comfortable calling for an appointment, seeing who will be coming to their home? Just curious here.

If you're actually going to the client's home then yes I think that it'd make the client feel a lil' bit more comfortable about inviting you into their home if there was a professional looking friendly photograph on a brochure.
Between seeing your photo and talking to you on the telephone while making the appointment, I'd think they'd feel fairly comfortable when you arrived at their door.
You could print out a small amount with and without the photo and place them somewhere (an office perhaps?) and see which goes first. *shrug*

Yes...one of the keys to a good biz card is a picture or a logo.

A picture would definitely be helpful, just be careful as to what kind of picture you use. A friend had used a "glamour shot" type of pic with a moderately low top and she had a lot of problems with men calling for "extras"

She changed the picture to just one with just a head shot and didn't have as many problems after that.

I second that. Terra, you're gorgeous and naturally glamorous-looking. I'd be very careful chosing your photo.

I use my photo in brochures, but not on my business cards. There is at least one old thread on the pros & cons of using one's photo -- I'll see if I can't dig it up -- but I'd love to hear what people are doing these days.

A teacher of mine once emphasized the importance of photos on collateral so that potential clients could look into our eyes. That way they would "know if they have an agreement" with us on some level or another.

Fun idea, one I like to empower when using my face shots in my materials ;-)

I have a head shot on my business cards and a photo of me working on a client (ashiatsu) on my brochures. I would say it has worked well for me, never a problem. Neither photo is glamourous, both professional yet attractive.

I read that photo business cards are less likely to be thrown away. I also want to "connect" in some way with my clients before they call.

By the way, my address is not on either. I work out of my home and by excluding the address, it forces a phone call that I can screen. If their first question is, "Where are you located?", I give them directions to my block and then ask if they were interested in making an appointment. Once they pass my screening, I give them more explicit directions.
