Pillow or Bolster?

my favorite pillow that i use has gone flat. :roll: my clients aren't getting the height they need under their knees.

so as i'm searching to find a new 'right' pillow, and having little luck, one of my colleagues asked why i never use bolsters, and now i can't remember why. maybe b/c pillows are softer.

anyway, which do you prefer? to use and when you're receiving?

I prefer a bolster to work with and when I am on the table.

Bolsters all the way.

They are easy to clean, slip under the top sheet, the keep their shape year after year, and they come in many shapes and sizes. I have only used the 6 inch round bolsters personally. They have a fluffy bolster you might like, tho I have heard the fluffy ones (being a bit larger) are more difficult to slip under a fitted sheet. The fluffy bolster might give you the best of both worlds; sturdy and easy to clean while at the same time a bit fluffy like a pillow.

One time I had a massage and the MT put rolled up towels under my knees, didnt quite do the job.

I picked bolster because although I use a modified one, it's still much more bolster-like than pillow-like. When I'm getting a massage I like a bolster better too. I prefer firm myself.

I prefer a bolster but where I use to work they didn't have any. They had yoga classes there and would rent out the mats. I swiped one and put two heavy rubber bands on it while rolled up. Viola! A bolster for me to use!

I use pillows. I like the way they sit on the table and under my clients legs much better than bolsters. That said, my husband uses bolsters.

I prefer pillows because they can be easily adjusted and are less likely to be a problem for people with circulatory problems.

I use the large squishy (fluffy) bolster most of the time. I also have a 6" semi-round that I use when the squishy is too high, or the injured person can't lift their knees with ease.

For sidelying I use the squishy bolster or the rectangular leg bolster from my body cushion set.

My office mate has a 12" jumbo 1/2-round Memory Foam bolster she uses and it's great.

I use bolster covers, so I can just put them under client legs instead of under the sheet if the sheet is too tight. Mostly I use flat sheets, loosely tied, so the bolsters slide in fairly easily, unlike fitted.

Pillows, though for under the knees I use 2 old pillows in one pillow case, ends up pretty much a large bolster shape anyway, and it gives those really flat pillows that aren't really good for anything another life. Also a huge flat pillow (or 2 in one pillowcase ) is great for putting stones on the feet when the client is face down.
