Please explain

I was looking at a couple of threads on the AE site and it left me wondering why there is so much angst, division, disagreement and nastiness amongst some of the contributors - and that's just toward each other! Gee they love havin a go at each other don't they not to mention airing what I presume they believe will be thought of as extremist views. To get attention maybe? Or does it just attract a bunch of hotheads who like to be contentious? Can someone please explain it all to me?

This site could not be more different. Everyone here is civilisied but I guess there must be members here who are members elsewhere too. Why are the 2 so different?

One word: Moderators

Members here know (or come to know) that shit fights aren't tolerated here.

The other place has no visible moderators (well it has them but they don't appear to do anything if that makes sense?) so members there know that they can get away with pretty much anything and their posts will remain untouched and that they won't cop any kind of censure for their actions.

Yes - the moderators do a great job and over time people learn what is and isn't acceptable. You get new folks Reviewom time to time who have to learn that but the AB board certainly has the nicest "tone" of the boards I Reviewequent.

The nastiest would be a Star Wars forum.... man geeks can get incredibly nasty when toys are involved ;p

Well I must be different. Don't mind being involved in the occasional shit fight, but far prefer to watch, provided the contestants play by the rules, don't resort to personal attacks, and display a modicum of intelligence :

Thats why i ONLY shop at Aus babe now as do my mates! Cause that AE forum and all their crap has made me NOT want to see a girl Reviewom there cause they scare me and I think their photos are fake, fake, fake and some of their members are nasty :twisted: and they are nasty to the working girls :evil: so that is why not many are there now they are all here and i like this place much better forums is great and the working girls here are great, kind and all beautiful in their own special way ile:

I agree that there can be a lot of nastiness on AE and it makes you think twice about contributing. It can be a bit of a Reviewee-for-all and this can allow people to blow off a bit of steam, which can be a good thing, provided that it doesn't cause any long-term ill feeling.
I think that each of the forums has its place and we are richer for having them all.
As wb say, the answer to why the two forums are so different is simply the Moderators.

Candy and Helig are both right. Spirited discussion and disagreements between contributors are a good thing, just as long as it doesn't descend into personal abuse. If everyone just agrees all the time, then it turns into a mutual masturbation society! (Hmm, probably a suitable topic for a new thread.)

I share the same sentiment as Raymond, AB is a much nicer place to browse and to contribute in - its nice to log in of an mpternoon and read tasteful, reliant and useful information :grin:

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I felt there were lots of good reasons why AB is The One and now I know why. I hate shitfights so if I ever say anything contentious and get challenged or rebuked for it I'm likely to just let it go.

It never ceases to amaze me how serious people take comments on these internet forums.

Someone state's their opinion that just happens to be different to someone else and it's like you murdered their mother or something. Then they run around trying to get validation for their view Reviewom other people on the forums like their some sort of precious, rare, holy soul amongst the heathen.

I suppose if their lives are so empty and sad that this is the only outlet they have to make them feel better about themselves....then why not!!!
