LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. — Police say they busted a human trafficking ring operating out of a massage parlor in Lake Oswego.
They say the Flora Spa on Boones Ferry Road was a front for prostitution.
Police first started investigating the spa in July of last year after a detective became suspicious of the business.
As they investigated, officers found the trafficking ring extended across several states.
They say the Flora Spa fit a pattern used by other trafficking networks that exploited women from other countries and used a front business to disguise prostitution.
Detectives identified at least 10 women from the spa who they believe were victims.
"The women who were identified as being compelled to work there are being connected with victim advocates and resources to hopefully help them be free of this work, and received whatever resources they may need to help them live a life outside of this," said Sgt. Tom Harper, spokesperson for the Lake Oswego Police Department.
Police said two people were arrested and are facing charges.
Their investigation is ongoing as they work to identify people suspected of receiving services at the establishment.
