PORTSMOUTH — A registered sex offender, who served prison time for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old Portsmouth girl, is alleged to have engaged in lewd conduct while getting a professional massage.
Charged with a misdemeanor count of indecent exposure/lewdness is Chad Thomas, 33, of 62 Green St. No. 105, Somersworth.
Police Capt. Frank Warchol said that on April 2, Thomas was "inappropriately touching himself" while getting a massage in Portsmouth. He said that after Thomas was arrested Thursday on a warrant, he was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and was scheduled to be arraigned June 1 in the Portsmouth Circuit Court.
Thomas is registered as a sex offender with Somersworth police and Warchol said that department will be notified about the recent arrest.
According to the state sex offender registry, Thomas was convicted for two counts of felonious sexual assault on July 19, 2011. He is listed as being under parole, probation, or supervised release until July 13, 2016.
The sex offender registration is a result of Thomas' arrest in May of 2010 when, Portsmouth police said, he admitted to having a "sexual relationship" with a 14-year-old girl. The age of consent is 16 in New Hampshire.
