No i still think that they make a lot of sense.

I did not vote in the last few as i didn't know many girls from those spas.

but they don't make any sense at all - and it's a mistake to think you'll have a better time by only going to the winners of the polls.

From the get go they are completely unscientific - which means precisely this - there's no accurate information you can glean from them of a statistical nature as to who to see or not see.

The biases are obvious and numerous. People with multiple identities often vote more than once. People vote for one having never seen the others. Masseuses, who care, can vote for themselves. (I'll guarantee these things aren't just potential flaws - they've actually happened.)

But the exercise itself can be fun (if you are willing to look at the process in the jaded way I am). Reading the comments can be fun (you begin to realize some have decent taste, and others do not, etc.).

so, what is it about the polls you find so offensive? or is it just that you think its a cheap way to increase post count?

Now, if its the fact you are sick of Polls, why is that? whats the difference between a poll and a post?
in my opinion nothing, a poll is a post.
a post can ask a question
a poll asks a question
in a post you can choose to reply or not
in a poll you can choose to reply or not. plus you have the option of selecting a predifined preference

in either case you are NEVER even required to ever click on the thread. you can simply ignore it, just as you do to many many threads that from the header you know wouldnt interest you.

so really what I think your trying to say is you've had enough of my Thread starts. you dont like my choice of questions. its really that simple.
most of my reviews have come as a result of my queries in my polls.
I've mentioned before the polls are somewhat selfish in nature as I try to ween out information and if my search assists others then is that a bad thing?

so perhaps your saying I garner too much attention by trying to be helpful and contributing to the massage review section. I've never been rude to anyone
I post as I see fit, I ask questions and I give advice and offer solutions.

what have your contributions been to massageplanet.net or more specifically the massage section?
this is your first thread start since 2003 or 4, is this your idea of a contribution?
btw I actually like your poll. and the simple fact you started a poll shows the benefit of this type of thread.
and if you think back you'll remember that many people have said, including myself, you should always take the results with a grain of salt
which is exactly what I would do with this poll in particular.

just above this post TQM explains the many ways to skew a result
in this particular poll it could simply be the girls that didnt do well in previous polls saying they dont like them. it could be a few people just like you dsoul69 that seem to have a problem with people that contribute to the board, but in a way that doesnt benefit you. simply because our interests are probably quite different.
do you think I would stop doing what I enjoy doing on massageplanet.net because you dont like it?

If I were to do a poll of the same nature as this one I would have enabled the name option so people can stand up and be counted. if I then saw that the people I respect and try to offer information to were the people that were tired of polls I would stop in a heartbeat. infact I'd probably stop posting completly.

I would love to hear your explanation dsoul as to what specifically bothers you about them? and why you cant just ignore somthing that doesnt interest you.


Kitaa I'm a bit surprised you dont like my contributions. I've enjoyed many many of your posts and your sig girls. you post at the same rate as me except you've been doing if for twice the time. I also notice you rarely post in the massage section where I do virtually all my posting.
to me you are a senior massageplanet.net member that has made many fine contributions. I have to wonder though why you feel mine are bothersome, especially when you know how easy it is to ignore them as you would any post thats of no interest to you.

Ok, the poll is closed, and the results speak for themselves. Overdoing the polls is getting out of hand.

AnimalMagnetism, I did not mention your name, so I don't know why you take it personally. But to be frank, your polls were over done. Initially, it was ok. But then I just skipped over the poll threads, and for a while, most of the massage section because your polls dominated them.

I wasn't picking on you or anything, so don't take it personally. Its true there are other threads that are used to increase thread counts, but they are blatantly obvious and can be seen with the amount of posts of some of the high posters.

I'm not faulting anyone, I just wanted to know if anyone felt like I do.

I think we need a poll to see if AnimalMagnetism had a hissy fit or if he's PMSing

the current series of polls are almost over, just the finals to appear.
but somehow I cant see me not running anymore polls anytime soon. I get great feedback via pm and by the threads themselves that alot of people enjoy the polls. and the ones that dont like em dont have to click open the thread. it doesnt get much simpler than that.

I didn't think that any of the polls had any scientific accuracy whatsoever and they don't because almost everything that TQM said was correct, I can't even believe I just agreed with TQM in the first place but even opposing arguements sometimes find a common ground.

As for myself, I was 1 out of the 10 people who voted Don't Care but I could have voted NO instead. After all only 99 handles participated in the voting, notice I said 99 handles and not 99 members, there is a difference, and the YES vote was barely over 50% of those handles.

Now if we look at the many other polls we get on average 100+ handles voting (ex. 330 handles voted in the best of SRM poll as compared to 50 in the best of Blue Pearl) and that means NO POSTS to increase post counts but more importantly what we get is participation in the MP forum which as far as I am concerned is somewhat more important. People make the choice.

On the other hand, too much of a good thing can turn into a bad thing ... it happens and each of us is different as to when that points occurs. dsoul has taken it upon himself to ignore the polls, that is his participation and you have to honour it even if the form is a poll.

Take it for what you may, but I do see both sides of the arguement and the so called de/constructive criticism is well noted.
