Polycystic Kidney Disease

Hi all, I am about to start treating a friend who has PKD. He is 40yrs old and has just started with routine monitoring of his PKD. His urine sample yesterday showed blood and the consultant has said it may be caused form burst cysts. He was diagnosed as a teenager but has never had any cause for concern. His father has it also and successfully had a new kidney transplanted 2 years ago.

So any tips on how I should tailor my treatment. Of course I will be treating all of the points but as this is a rare disease information is hard to come by. Is there any points I should be careful about?

I had to google PKD to get more facts about the illness!

He and his father seem to have a positive approach to this debilitating illness so reflexology can only enhance his positiveness and give him some time out for himself as well.

I would cover all areas but spend a little more time on the other elimination channels ie. lungs, liver, lymphs and bowels to assist the kidneys which will be working under a lot of strain due to the condition.

It will be interesting to see whether the kidney/adrenal reflex area is tender.
