Maybe some of you can give me some ideas. For the last couple of years my left collarbone pops. Not all the time, but occasionally, for several days in a row, when I raise my arm to the front or rotate my shoulder, my collarbone moves and pops at the sternum. It is not painful, but neither is it normal. It is hard to say if any of the muscles surrounding the area are more sore than usual, since I pretty much stay sore in most areas all the time. (I have never spent the money to be diagnosed, but have all the tender points and symptoms of fibro.) My collarbone has never been broken, and I don't recall any major injuries to that shoulder.
I have tried door stretches, self-massage, deep tissue massage, push-ups, and ROM exercises. I have asked my regular massage therapist, my chiro, my GP. and they all just looked confused and told me not to worry about it ( translation- I haven't got a clue.)
Maybe they're right and I am worrying over nothing, but does anyone have any ideas on what might cause this? A muscle imbalance? Which muscles? ( For information purposes, I do up to 6 massages a week in a 3 day work week, and have a farm with livestock which means carrying buckets, shoveling, digging carrying hay, etc.) I have had a lot of trouble with the other shoulder due to a fall, could that contribute?
Thanks in advance. I just love this site, some of the most gifted therapists around post here. 8)
