Practice does NOT run itself

For the past 7 months I have been getting ready for my wedding on Oct 21st. Since then my attention has been on that and not my massage practice. Slowly and surely bus. has dropped. I think for the most of it I just haven't been putting alot of energy towards it. Now when I need the money the most it's not there.

I did a health fair last Fri. which I did get some bookings from that. So, this wk and next are nicely booked.

My spirit is really high for the wedding, but low for my practice. I hope that this is just a phaze and I can pick back up on everything after the wedding. I need some good thoughts and encouragement. :roll:

Maybe you could joint venture with someone and swap services. For example, give one weekly free massage to a stay-at-home-mom or to a part-time secretary who would agree to help you with some of the admin stuff for a certain number of hours per week. Try not to feel down at the happiest time of your life.

Use visualizations, affirmations and a simple plan to keep your spirits high and to stay connected with the positive energies around you.

Enjoy your wedding, see if you can get some assistance, then focus once you're celebrations are over.

Shera_kth, I felt theh same way when I was pregnant, and my business reflected where my energy was going (into my growing babe) but it did not take long at all after I was ready to get my focus back on my business to turn things around. Maybe take a couple of days to plan out a good marketing come back for after the honeymoon and then let yourself enjoy your celebration! Congratulations!

Thank you both very much for your words. Just like you said akb my energy is focused else where. Once the wedding and craziness is over hopefully I can settle down and refocuse. I have a few marketing tools I've been thinking about so I can implement them then.

I believe its self preservation. We CAN'T do it all, all the time. Sounds like you see the weak spot right now. If you didn't then then that would be cause for more concern. I bet you will be back on track as soon as the wedding is completed. Enjoy that time and don't beat yourself up about it. Balance in all things.

Michael Humphreys from Help Your Practice here. Congrats on your upcoming wedding. My wife and I will actually be celebrating our 2 year anniversary on the 23rd... I wish you as much joy and happiness as my soulmate has brought into my life. I wouldn't trade married life for anything else in the world.

Okay, back to reviving your massage business -- after all, that's my area of expertise.

If you have your clients set up on a mailing list, do some type of reactivation letter or postcard. Offer them something like a free hot stone upgrade or even $10 off an hour or 90 minute massage. Chances are, a good number of them will respond.

You could do a gift certificate sale in honor of your upcoming wedding. Have some fun with the idea and let your creativity shine!

It can be tough to juggle all of the responsibilities of a small business owner, but marketing is really important to do a consistent basis. I recommend scheduling a regular time each week to do your marketing efforts. Treat it like a paying massage client and use that time to promote your massage business.
