Practice Run

[Small Fry]

My trip is still ages away. Its not due till next Feb, so my fellow travellers and I decided to have a quick run through. A warm up for the main event if you like.

The Thai Restaurant was warned that the food element of our visit would pale into insignificance against the Singha part of the bill and off we went.

We had brought our own connect 4 and Jenga games and a bell , but staff were warned not to get too excited when it rang. More for authenticity we explained.

Perhaps it started to go wrong when we began singing……………Oh down in the barn where the candlelight flickers, I lost my heart and she lost her ……Parasol

Trying to bang the nail in the wood didn’t go down too well either. Partly because with each effort 6 bottles of Singha bounced it the air as the hammer missed the intended nail and smashed into the table.

The game of hide the 1000 baht note didn’t have the same effect on the staff as it seems to have over in Phuket. No excited squeals as you shout warmer…..warmer. Too well paid I guess.

We did pay before we left…….err were bundled out, but the experience did little to satisfy our craving for a proper Phuket night out.

I guess we have to just wait.. You can take the boys out of Phuket, but you can’t take Phuket out of the boys.

From what I gather, you didn't get ripped off or charged for things you never ordered and then treated like a piece of sh1t when you had the gall to speak up and query the bill...no wonder it didn't feel like the authentic Thai experience!

Or had to take a piss in what appears to be the middle of the kitchen, or be pestered by those girls selling the frog noise thing. We've alot to learn about authentic Thai Restaurants.

yeah we do the one night a week thing with the boys... We go to a different Thai restaurant everyweek.... Dont know about bringing nails and a hammer with me but ill pass it by the boys and see how we go....
