There are some doctors who do not want their pregnant patients to have their feet massaged because of the possibility of blood clots forming in the feet being pushed up to the heart, lungs, or brains, which could result in stroke or death in a worst case scenario (I don't think this has ever happened to anyone, by the way - it's just an industry precaution). I'm not sure if using a foot massager while seated could cause the same problem, so the only way to find out is call your doctor's office and leave a message for the doctor asking if it's OK to do. When I was a massage therapist, I asked all of my pregnant clients to bring me a prescription for their pre-natal massages with any restrictions from the doctor, and the only restriction I ever received was to stay away from the feet sometimes. Whenever someone called for an appointment for a pre-natal massage, I always asked them to call their doctor first and get the Rx in writing before making the appointment, because I found if I took the appointment, sometimes people would call in an hour before the appointment and cancel because they "just saw their doctor and mentioned they were going for a massage, and he said no", so then I just made it a requirement for them to check first, then make the appointment. By the way, I had a ton of pre-natal clients who loved it and came back once a month during their entire pregnancy and said it really helped with back pain and exhaustion and anxiety. Good luck!
