prenatal contraindications

At the Salon I work in, we require that pregnant women be over 12 weeks pregnant before they are able to recieve a massage. I cannot find anything about this in my books from scool. It was not included in my notes of contraindications. Any thoughts? :roll:

There is a reason you haven't found it in any notes.
It doesn't have any medical basis. Either your salon is just following along with, apparently what other businesses do, without knowing why. Or they don't want to be sued on the off chance that some poor woman miscarries within a couple of days of receiving her massage and decides to sue.

I follow that policy also. I did learn that in school.
I do know, however, that the first trimester is often the most common time for a miscarriage to occur. When it happens, often the mom thinks back to anything she did different to try to make sense of this horrible ordeal. I would hate to have her connect the massage with the miscarriage, but I've heard mom's connect it.
