((Sorry in advance for so many questions! I'm terrified of starting this wrong and would really like some advice from mentors who know what they're doing!))
After more frustration with choosing kibble food, I've started researching prey-model diets again. I tried once and my bought my pup whole chicken wings (shoulder to wing tip), and he got excited and swallowed the entire thing whole. He managed to pass it, though x-rays showed that parts of the bone stayed whole throughout his intestines, and I'm not sure I want to risk that again.
Anyways, I understand the basics of the diet (80/10/10, etc), but I have to say... I know nothing about what sort of cuts of meat/bone I should be looking for. What should I be looking for for a 30 lb. puppy that will be 45 lb. at an adult health?
Also, I am a bit squeamish and a little scared to start working with organs, and no where near ready to toss my dog an entire carcass! Do you get used to it?
Last question! Do you need to be completely precise on the 80/10/10 ratio? For example.. if I toss my dog a whole fish one day, I'm not gonna know what the ratio in that fish was.
-Note: There isn't a butcher within 30 miles of here, so I'm stuck with supermarkets and wal-marts. I am keeping an eye out on craigslist for hunter supplies, no luck yet.
