I'm planning my first trip but don't want to be eaten alive by ravenous bargirls and others. Can you tell me what the common bar fees and tips are in Phuket?

Has anyone been to the Philippines. Can you draw a comparison? What's different?

Hi RA,

I live in Pattaya on occasion am returning in June through year end..
I am married to a Filipina from Cebu and Thailand has a lot of similarity even if many of the hourist's! who post on this forum say there is no comparison. In The PI you get a girl from say Firehouse in Manila from 1,200 to 2,000 pesos if you want to give her a tip and cover the bar fine.

The love triangle has Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket has different pricing dependent on the bar. Even the bar fine which ranges from 200 to 300 baht is based on time of year seasonality and if it is a beer bar (outdoor) and its audience draw. The Olypic bar in Pattaya for example charges as much as 800 baht during season Nov to January, its an air conditioned go go bar.

What you pay the girl with a tip is up to you. If she is just from the Province and is not broken in she will quote what the other girls want her to compete with. Usually it is 1,000 to 1,500 baht range but I have heard regulars getting a 6 or 7 for simply a nice dinner and some drinks. I consider myself more considerate and ususally turn key a girl for 2,000 baht but she remembers me and gives me a good referenece if I show my face again.

I have said this in a earlier post. These girls even though they are not cut out of the American princess "give me everything "syndrome but many of the great looking Thai chicks are in demand and they know it so they pick you many times and they dictate what they want... dont be offended if it is not you, just say next!! The good thing is there are plenty more....
