De intel/info system on massageplanet Etown is like an iceberg...public posted info constitutes 10% of inte, on de surface...de other 90% is communicated by PMs, out of sight, under de surface.

PMs are how u build your network of online intel relationships.

Your currency is de reviews and experiences u share on de upper 10% public postings.

To access de other 90% reeeeely reeeeely good stuff underneath de upper layer, dat's done by PMs.

Here are my suggestions regarding PMs:

* If u get inquiries by PM for info, and it's from someone with no or very few posts, and no reviews at all on either massageplanet OR Perb, and u don't know who it is, do NOT give away your currency. That person has not yet earned your trust and is not intel-worthy, at this time. They may be, in the future, if they post reviews.

* If u get inquiries from someone with reviews, either on massageplanet Or Perb, and u like dere posts, please share freely and generously..

* you keep all info on PMs strictly confidential..

* Be courteous and respectful when replying.. You never know when you gonna come across a really good source and comrade.

Excellent post trin, and dead on the money.It should be moved to a more general area, as this applies to more than Edmonton Massage.

First thing I do when I get an unrecognized PM is look up their profile and posting history. Same applies in FlashChat when I enter, and see unrecognized lurkers.

Many are seasoned veterns who spend the majority of their massageplanet time behind the scenes (12 posts since 2005, but very knowledgable and helpful in chat or pms).

Many others are newbie, lurkers, or LE just listening for info of any kind, nothing useful to contribute. With time, you can see they stick out like a sore thumb.

Like you said, public reviews are important for this board to function, but the "juicy" bits are best traded in private. Reviews that read like Penthouse forum letters (Guilty a time or two myself) usually are more about ego building for the author than sharing useful info. Especially when outlining details that YMMV on anyhow, or that are available on visit 6, but weren't there visit 1.
A public review should tell me if the gal is hot, has a good attitude, what makes her unique and if she is good VFM. Services offered is also important, as is pricing and ease of setup. I want an idea of what I would be getting into if I booked a session. I don't need to hear how "I rammed my throbbing shaft to the hilt in her honey-pot and brought tears of joy to her face, as her eyes rolled back in exctasy" riiiight... I'll PM you to get those type of details. More helpful is "she reciprocated everything I gave her, and was very energetic." Public reviews are about the girl, not about what a stud the author is.

And the info shared in PMs is PRIVATE (duh). That means don't forward it along without the original author's permission.

Let me clarify. Details that further advance my info about the gal are most excellent and welcomed.
Details that amount to bragging about your conquests are just that; bragging.
I like well written, humorous reveiws that give good indo on the gal. I get annoyed at bragging.

IF you don't have an ongoing intel/info relationship with someone, when making your first request for info to him by PM, I recommend that you first offer some intel/info about some SP's services/rates/extras etc, then make your request.

Your chances of getting a positive response in return are much higher.

Please do NOT supply intel by PM to such requests of members who are NOT intel-worthy, and who have offered you nothing in return by way of intel..for all you know, they may be LE..

To be Intel-worthy, a member should have At Least One posted Review on massageplanet, and pre****bly Two..

Or, should have offered you credible Intel in his PM to you..

Intel/info is not "free" on our site to those who have not "earned" it.

Members have to "earn" the right to ask, BY PM, for Intel/Info by way of posting Reviews, or providing intel by PM.

I get a lot of PMs asking to clarify some details, and in most cases (unless the request is creepy) I oblige. I can relate to members not having a posting or review history, so I don't mind providing a bit more insight over and above what the posted review has. Many of those then report back if they followed through with a booking, and although I encourage them to publicly post, many don't feel comfortable doing so.

Perhaps I subscribe to a different, shall we say 'Pay-It-Forward' principle, where (at least as I believe) me sharing my intel ultimately benefits the review board down the line. And who knows, some of those may one day become reviewers and legends in their own right .

I do subscribe to a "Pay it Forward" principle if the request is made via Public Post..in which case, I will provide links to appropriate threads which can give direction to the requester..

But providing info by PM to someone who has very little posting history, who has contributed very little in the way of posts or reviews, and with whom I don't have an online "relationship" is a different scenario..

Gentlemen,

I have a question regarding PM's not answered in your guide. I have noticed that several of the SP's are also members here as well. Are there any rules regarding contacting one of them by PM to begin building a relationship with the anticipation of setting up a meeting? As I live waaay out of town now, I will be making my maiden voyage soon and I want to make sure the SP I pick to re-pop my cherry is the one that will give me everything I anticipate. I actually have a fair amount of experience with SP's, but just got out of a long term relationship and haven't seen one in almost a decade. If anyone is interested in info on other countries I would be more than happy to pass on any thing I know, however it may be a little out of date. LOL! (But what a hell of a week in Tiajuana!)

For sure. I just read the thread on SP's and letting them know your nickname and I hadn't even thought about that in the case of setting up a meeting by PM. That will also have to figure into my plans. Not that it will really make much of a difference for me as I really have no posting history here and have only been here a few days. Since I'm now single I don't even have to worry about hiding it from an SO either. I guess the advantange to setting up a meeting on here by PM as a new guy is that it allows the SP to open up a dialogue with you so that she can get a feel for you. I obviously won't be able to get a recommendation from another SP as I haven't seen one in Edmonton in a long time. Although not all SP's seem to require a recommendation even if she doesn't it will still give her the ability to clarify any questions she may have.

This is ridiculous. Intel worthy? WTF are you talking about? Are you a massageplanet moderator now? Intel IS free from some. The helpful ones.

I think it is fine that a person lives by the rules they set for themselves (and the ones that agree and the sheep), but why should anyone else follow them. I get good intel from a few people on here and I reciprocate where possible. I do not have the financial resources like Trintrin and I cannot TOFTT. Many have guided my adventures in this hobby and I am grateful for the intel. Trintrin does provide lots of 411 in the reviews though.

Not SOL with everyone. Just the ones that follow this lame rule. I will provide any info that is public info (meaning info that the SP may have posted somewhere before). I will provide YMMV info. I will not PM private info to people that I do not know or don't have any posts. I think you can get a decent feel for a person from their posts. However, I will likely forward the questions to the SP cuz I want them to stay in business if they are any good. Anyone can make up 2 reviews to be Trintrin intel worthy, but I just don't want to.

My thinking is more inline with sovnarkom's.

It's not a lame rule. If the info is publicly available, there's a search function you should be using to find it. If it's not, then why should people give information out to people who don't contribute? This board is a review board, it's worthless without reviews. If you're not going to contribute, then why should you expect anything in return?
